Iran saw a 37% year-over-year increase in its quarterly export of agricultural products.
In the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year, Iran sold agricultural products worth approximately $1.027 billion, showing a 37 percent rise compared to the previous year.
As reported by IRIB, Mohammad Sadeq Ghanadzadeh, the deputy head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), stated that the exports of these products saw a 19 percent increase in weight.
During that period, pistachios, tomatoes, watermelons, apples, and potatoes were the most popular products in terms of exports.
The official stated that Iran’s participation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the resulting rise in exports to member countries has been the primary factor behind the increase in Iran’s exports.
According to the spokesperson of Iran’s House of Industry, Mining and Trade, the agricultural and foodstuff exports from Iran grew by 22.5 percent in the last Iranian calendar year.
As per Ruhollah Latifi, Iranian producers were successful in exporting approximately $6.3 billion worth of the mentioned goods during the same year, as stated by IRNA.
According to reports, agro-food items made up 12.8 percent of the nation’s overall non-oil exports in the prior year.
In the specified year, Iran’s agro-food products worth $1.986 billion were predominantly sent to Iraq as their main destination. The Arab partner represented 31.5 percent of Iran’s overall food and agricultural exports.
In terms of imported products, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) came in second, bringing in $751 million of the mentioned goods, while Russia followed with $521.5 million.
Iran’s total foreign trade, which consists of oil and technical engineering services, amounted to $153.17.8 billion in the previous Iranian calendar year.
